I illustrated this print for the Rotterdam Student Sailing Association. They asked to design a print for their yearly sweater for the first year members.
In this design I looked at the bounderies of a nautical print. Since the sweater was going to be yellow, I decided to illustrate ‘gin and lemons’, refering to the Rotterdam nautical song ‘ketelbinkie’. In this song the ‘gin and lemons’ can be seen as a symbol of fellowship. Something we also wish for the first year members.
By leaving the lemons a white space, the lemons would turn out yellow when printed on a yellow sweater.
